Obituary of Robert F. Papaleoni

Robert F. Papaleoni, 74, of Camillus, NY, passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2022 in Camillus, NY.

He was born on October 4, 1947 in Syracuse, NY to the late Fiorindo and Rose Papaleoni. Growing up in Solvay, he graduated from Solvay High School in 1965. He was also a member of the Solvay Tyrol Club.

His career in television spanned from Channel 9 to New Channels/Time Warner Cable, to his retirement from WCNY in 2016. A lifelong musician, he was a past member of the Brigadiers Drum Corp. His musical career included drumming for The Free Design, Sail, Prism and many local bands. He was also incredibly passionate about food - both cooking and eating.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Raymond and Ronald, nephews Jeffry, Anthony and Gregory, and his best friend Jimmy Despirito.

He is survived by his wife Robin, son Zachary (Stephanie) Papaleoni, stepson Anthony (Danielle) Nicotra and his granddaughters Etta, Ally, Ava, and Laurel (who all called him “BobBob”) and many, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. 

His spirit will forever be celebrated and remembered in music, in nature, and of course, in the kitchen.

Visitation will be 1 to 3 pm Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY with service immediately following. The family requests all visitors wear masks. Private burial.
