Zach and everyone…I was out of town for the services, but I want you all to know…I worked in Syracuse TV for 37 years and never worked with a nicer, more gentle…gentleman. A pro from the word “go” …and he was always more than willing to patiently share his experience and wisdom with a younger guy just trying to learn how to do things right. And when I learned of his music background, I became a star-struck colleague! Here I am, working at Channel 9, with the guy who played with The Free Design on “Kites are Fun”…and so much more. I grew up listening to that song on the radio, and I grew as a TV news reporter and anchor just by having the chance to work with Pappy. May he Rest In Peace. And may his family be comforted by knowing that Bob Papaleoni made the days of so many people better, simply by being in his presence.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Bob! He was our drummer and percussionist in the early years of
The Free Design and we felt so fortunate to have such a talented and sensitive musician with us.
Pappy, as we called him was also a great friend and was always there for us. He seemed like a brother and we had such fun together making music.
We will never forget him and we send our heartfelt condolences to his family.

I first met Bob when he was drumming with my siblings in the Free Design in the 1960s. I was fortunate to meet him again and become friends when we moved to Syracuse in 2009. Bob played with us when we performed as the Free Design at the Syracuse ALS Walk and an ALS fundraising concert in 2013. We had a lot of fun rehearsing and performing those old songs together. I was very sad to hear of his passing. Condolences to his family and friends.

I still vividly remember watching Bobby perform when we were all kids coming up through the local music scene. I'll always be in awe of his musicianship and his ability to have fun both on and off stage. He was world-class and a joy to know as a friend. Every conversation was filled with laughter. God bless you, Bobby, and your entire family.

We've lost a piece of our collective musical history. Bobby Papalioni (seated) was a class act, solid drummer/percussionist, and incredible showman on stage. I had the privilege of being on the road with him from 1972-1974 performing in some of the best show rooms in 35 of the United States. He will missed dearly. Condolences to Robin and the entire Papalioni family.Rest in peace my friend.

I was so sorry to hear about Bob’s passing. His love for the Lord was an example in my life. The fact that were are both drummers that worked in the video industry was always a bond that we had. I will always remember our time in “Psalm Drummers” and the times we had sharing and fellowshipping in that group. Michelle and I were honored to attend he and Robin’s wedding and our condolences go out to her and the rest of the family. “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” John 13:35…this verse will always remind me of Bob.

To Robin and Zack, I have had the pleasure of calling Rober my brother from another mother all my life. He was my brothers bestfriend. So I grew up with two brothers. I remember sitting on the basement stairs on Alice Ave. and watching his band rehearse many many times. The great music that came from there. We traveled many times to NYC to visit my brother, spent a week in Jamaica and had many dishes of polenta and chicken that his mom Rose would cook for us.
I know now those talented hands are working and hitting those drums like never before. So when you find Bigger up there give him a hug for me and go on some road trips with him like the ones in the past. Your brother from another mother Antoine

My condolences to Zack and family. I will never forget when I was in elementary school Robert and The Free Design was on the Mike Douglas Show. My grandmother ( his aunt) was the only family member who had a color console TV. All the Barattas gathered around the TV that late afternoon to watch. His mom, my great Aunt Rose, was out of her mind with pride. " My Robert" she kept saying as she tapped her feet and clapped her hands. And I had a rock star cousin on TV! How cool was that! Afterwards, it was a typical Baratta food frenzy, which Bob would have loved . Then weeks later they were on Merv Griffin! We all gathered, cheered and ate once again! RIP "Robert."
