I was saddened to read of Charlie's passing. I worked for nearly 30 years in real estate finance departments at Marine Midland. In all those years, we were privileged to work alongside Charlie. He was, indeed, an outstanding real estate attorney - and that is an understatement. I was grateful for his detail-oriented approach to real estate law & all that he taught me (& the rest of the staff) over the years. My condolences to Martha, Amy and the rest of the family on the passing of a truly classy gentleman.

Martha and Amy and families, My cousin Matthew Doran told us of your Dad's passing, we are so sorry to hear. He, and your mom, were the nicest of neighbors when we lived next door and even when we visited Aunt Carm Doran. Their love of their dogs was inspiring to us. They were always so sweet to let my daughter, Brenna, see and play with the dogs when she was little and was visiting from California. We learned today of Charles passing. A true gentleman. He assisted us with our legal matters down thru the years dating back to the old Marine Midland days. Until we moved, We enjoyed our Thursday morning coffee with Charles and the gang. He will be missed. God bless him on his journey. Ted & Helen Michaels

Chuck and Hal have had an inside joke about Chuck sending water to us in Southern California. He was working diligently on a plan. I'm thinking now it won't happen or on the other hand maybe he has a bigger "in" now with accomplishing it. I'm going to miss my perfect gimlet, although Dave makes a very good substitute. Chuck's smile will be part of my life always, but I promise never to tell lawyer jokes. After Nancy passed, he has been my greatest source of Umbrecht information. Because he had his Grandfather's memories typed up and distributed, I was able to find where our family was from in Germany. I was able to visit them 4 years and and revisited them only 2 weeks ago. Fortunately, Chuck got to meet Isabel Jung, his 4th cousin twice removed when she visited the US and Syracuse. You have touched so many lives and I'm so grateful I was one of those.
