Obituary of Alfred P. Gallauresi

Alfred P. Gallauresi November 28, 2010 Alfred P. Gallauresi, 91, of Solvay, passed away Sunday morning at Crouse Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Solvay, he graduated from Solvay High School in 1937. He attended Rensselear Polytechnic Institute and graduated in 1942 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He was initially employed as a research engineer at Aircooled Motors Corporation. He retired after 30 years at Oberdorfer Foundries as head engineer of the pump division. While working at Oberdorder he was awarded two patents for pump design. Fred was a communicant of Saint Cecilia's Church where he served as an usher for many years. He had impressive creative capabilities. Some hobbies included: painting, gardening, and carpentry. He designed and built the home in which his family grew over 56 years. He enjoyed making people laugh and was a delight to all who knew him. Fred was predeceased in 2006 by his beloved wife of 63 years, the former Joan Marjorie Simmons. He is survived by his loving children; Peter (Bonnie) Gallauresi, Susan (Phillip) Mastroleo, Ellen (Edward) Haak, Beth (Matt) Massiano, Bill (Judy) Gallauresi, and daughter-in-law Jeri Gallauresi; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Fred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will lovingly remember him as "Papa-daddy". He had a deep love for his family and his memory will be cherished. Services: 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Cecilia's Church, Solvay. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W.
