Obituary of Francis J. Himpler

Francis J. "Frank" Himpler, 88, of Syracuse passed away Friday at Community General Hospital. Born in Solvay, he was a graduate of Solvay High School and served as a US Naval aviator during WWII. Frank was the former owner of Himpler Bus Company and would also work for East Syracuse Minoa School District. He would later retire from the Liverpool School district as a mechanic. Frank was an active communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Lakeland and was a member of the Pinnacle Rod and Gun Club for over 30 years. He was predeceased by his wife Jane Himpler in 1999, and his sister, Thelma Himpler in 1980. Survivors: daughter, Patricia Van Nelson of Falls Church, VA; son, Francis J. (Cynthia) Himpler Jr. of Easton, PA; sisters, Mary Louise Storie, Dorothy Smorol, Helen Rivers, Florence Schuelke, Carolyn Himpler, and Ruth Howard; brothers, Robert Himpler, Edward Himpler, Paul Himpler, and Joseph Tupper; grandson, Robert E. Lecher III; numerous nieces and nephews. Services: 9 a.m. Tuesday at Tindall Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady Of Peace Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady Of Peace Church, 203 Halcomb St, Syracuse, NY 13209
