I first encountered Sister Lina in the fourth grade at St. Matthew's School in East Syracuse. The textbook was Izard the Lizard and she, like so many other dedicated teachers of that school and era, was instrumental in my educational and faith journey. Hastily scribbling "blackboard ice cream cones" with chalk for students who answered correctly, tables full of plants growing as part of the science curriculum in later years but mostly her ceaseless energy and passion for her vocation are memories I will carry with me forever.
