Obituary of Maeve Ann (Hogan) Knapp

Maeve Ann (Hogan) Knapp passed away at Crouse Hospital on April 2, 2017, just one day following her 63rd birthday, after a long but brave struggle with the ravages of systemic scleroderma, a rare autoimmune disease. She was predeceased by her parents, Dr. John J. Hogan and Carol (Dwyer) Hogan, and by her former husband, Terry Shannon. She is survived by her husband, Richard H. Knapp; her children, Amanda Knapp, Dr. Erin Shannon, and Michael Shannon; her step-children, Patricia Knapp and Katherine (Knapp) Murphy; her siblings, Maura R. Hogan and John J. Hogan, Jr.; and Nox, her adoring Belgian Tervuren. Maeve was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area and a graduate of Corcoran High School and Onondaga Community College. She worked for many years in the data information and billing divisions of the medical field, and later became a driving force in the founding, funding and management of her daughter's dental practice. Even as her health began to decline, Maeve worked tirelessly to assist with the coordination of care for her uncle Doug (who passed in 2012) and her mother (whom she lost in January). Her passions were the outdoors, her family, her dogs, and all things dog-related. She loved to vacation in the Adirondack Park and to spend time by the water with friends and family (including her dogs and theirs) at Doug's camp on Skaneateles Lake. A calling hour and services will commence at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., respectively, on Saturday, April 8th at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 West Genesee Street, Syracuse.
