Obituary of John J. Bova

John J. Bova, 90, of Westvale passed away peacefully on Friday. Born August 5, 1922, Jack was a lifelong resident of Syracuse growing up in the Tipperary Hill neighborhood of Syracuse and graduating from St. Patrick’s High School in 1940. He was a US Army Air Corps pilot having served in WWII. He retired from Loblaws Inc. and thereafter operated a small trucking company. Jack enjoyed all things “mechanical” especially cars, trucks, and airplanes. He loved all animals and over the years had given shelter to many a homeless dog. Jack took great joy in sending time with family especially his two granddaughters. Survivors: daughter, Elizabeth (Larry) Valenti of Baldwinsville; granddaughters, Alexandra and Rachel Valenti; brother, Daniel (Rita) Bova of Camillus; sister, Sarah (William) Read of Syracuse; Jack was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Matthews Bova, his parents Michael Bova and Josephine McNamara, brothers, Richard, James, and Michael Bova, and sisters Rosemary and Joanne Bova. Services: 9:30 a.m. Monday at Tindall Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow with military honors in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
