Obituary of David J. Hann

David Jared Hann. P.E., 47, of Camillus, NY, passed away on April 3, 2024 in Syracuse,NY after a decade long battle with brain cancer. Dave was born in Massena, NY. He graduated with honors from Clarkson University in 2000 with a degree in Civil Engineering and earned his P.E. in 2006. Dave worked for the New York State Department of Transportation for 23 years in the bridge design and bridge inspection units.

When directed at you, Dave’s smile could light up your world. Dave liked to work hard and took pride in fixing things. He could fix anything! He enjoyed being outdoors, camping, mowing the grass or tending his vegetable garden. He was especially proud of his tomatoes. Above all, he loved his family. He enjoyed just being with his girls – swim meets, basketball games, softball games, prom shopping, driving lessons, dinner out, he was there for it all. He was the ultimate girl dad.

Dave was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in various capacities in the church, from teaching primary children to serving in the bishopric. His love of God was evident in his showing up for anyone who needed him. He shoveled driveways, fixed leaky faucets, and dropped off flowers with a smile on his face and love in his heart.

He is predeceased by his grandparents Richard and Loretta Hann; Sarah Agnes and Erwin Aldous; and Lois Aldous.

Dave is survived by his wife of 21 years, L. Rebecca Hann (Feito) and four daughters, Hailey, Rachel, Clara, and Alma Hann; his parents Richard and Janet (Aldous) Hann; his brothers Richard (Lisa), Christopher (Jennifer), James, and Michael (Lauren) Hann; sister Janell (Shawn) Winigman; and several nieces and nephews.

The Hann Family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Jorg Dietrich and Dr. Daniel Cahill at Massachusetts General Hospital, and Dr. Mohile and Jen Serventi, P.A. at Strong Memorial Hospital and their teams who fought alongside us for the past 11 years. We are also grateful to the staff at Francis House who showed us great care and love during his last days.

Visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 801 E. Colvin St. Syracuse, NY on Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 1-3 p.m. followed immediately by a funeral service. If you can, wear green. It was Dave’s favorite color.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave. Syracuse, NY 13208 or https://francishouseny.org/
