Obituary of Maureen Anne Donohue
On October 24th, early in the morning, surrounded by the beauty of the season she loved so much, Maureen Anne Donohue “Moe” took her last breath on earth and opened her eyes in Heaven. For the last two years, Moe fought cancer with courage and grace. She comforted her kids and those around her with words like, “I can still see the sun through the clouds.”. Moe poured all that she had into her 67 years. Born on Tipperary Hill, she grew up the youngest of six siblings, always surrounded by love. She attended St. Patrick’s School where she met several life long friends. Moe married the love of her life, Kevin, in 1976. Together, they had seven children and filled houses in Syracuse and Jordan, New York with love, laughter, and a lot of noise. Moe’s calling was nursing, a fitting one for a woman with a heart filled by caring for others. She was selected to speak at her RN graduation ceremony. An avid gardener, who loved spending time in her yard. A thoughtful gift giver who would lovingly spend hours searching for the perfect gift for each person on her list. Her sense of humor broke down walls and invited others in. Above all, Moe loved God and clung to her faith in times of both rejoicing and sorrow.
Moe was predeceased by Kevin Duffy Donohue Sr., her late husband, her mother, Charlotte Redmond (Eft), her father, Kevin Redmond, and her brother, John Redmond.
Moe is survived by Kevin D. Donohue Jr. (Heather), Erin Mack (Ben), Gregory Donohue (Ashley), Christopher Donohue (Katy), Kathryn Donohue, Jeffrey Donohue (Yanique), Allison Brent (Tyler), her 13 grandchildren who lit up her life; her siblings Patrick Redmond (Cindy), Timothy Redmond, Theresa Redmond, Eileen Dana (Tom), Christine Redmond, and Kelly Redmond; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
