Obituary of Douglas Roger Graham
Douglas R. Graham of Syracuse, NY succumbed to the devastating ALS disease, (Lou Gehrig's Disease), Oct. 12, 2023. Born to William and Louise Graham on March 22, 1944, he resided in Syracuse his entire life. After graduating from West Genesee High School, he proudly served in the US Marine Corps attaining the rank of Corporal with the H&S Co, 8th Tank Battalion of Syracuse. After the Marines, Doug found his passion of driving within the trucking industry making it a lifelong career, working for various companies until he acquired his own truck. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially when he went with his dad and brothers. He had a wandering soul and a heart of gold, always willing to help someone out whether he knew them or not. He will be dearly missed by many, but his suffering has come to an end and he has left us with lasting memories to cherish.
Predeceased by his parents, and siblings; Richard, Robert and his wife Pat, sister Virginia Cornman, 1 great grandson and 2 ex-wives.
He is survived by his daughter Toni Marie Dzurinko of Florida, 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sisters Carolyn Whedon and Dorothea (Leon) Hungerford and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Our sincere gratitude to the all the staff at the V. A. Medical Center for their wonderful care and compassion Doug received while a patient.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7pm Friday, October 20, 2023 and 11am to 12pm, Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St. Syracuse. Burial with military honors will follow at North Syracuse Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doug's name to a veteran's organization of choice.
