Obituary of Albert A. Mercurio
Albert A. Mercurio, 89, of Camillus, NY passed away Thursday at Van Duyn Center. Albert served his country in the US Army as a paratrooper. He graduated from Marcellus Central School, Morrisville State College, and Syracuse University with a BS degree. Albert was a communicant of St .Michael and St. Peter Church.
He worked for General Electric for several years and spent over 30 years in the insurance industry as a salesman and assistant sales manager. After retiring he worked with the ground maintenance department of Tuscarora Golf Course for several years.
Albert played softball and basketball for a number of years, he also liked to hunt and fish occasionally and play golf at Tanner Valley Golf Club. One of his favorite pastimes was sipping a cup of tea or two at one of his west side watering holes.
Surviving are his nephew, Gary Shearn, nephew, Thomas D. Mercurio, former wife, Kathleen, cousins and step nieces and nephews of the Azzoto family, step brother, Orlando Azzoto, step sister, Lee Sabatino.
Services: 10 am Wednesday, March 1, at The Church of St. Michael and St. Peter , 4782 W Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
