Obituary of Constance B. Conger-Sofia

Constance "Connie" Conger-Sofia, 88, died peacefully on Friday evening, February 25, 2022, at Fahey Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 20, 1933, in Syracuse, NY to John and Catherine Burkart. After graduating from Blodgett Vocational High School, she married Paul S. Conger in October of 1952 who preceded her in death in 2008. She was united in marriage to Santo (Sonny) Sofia in 2010.
Connie was a familiar and friendly face in the Main Office at Jamesville-Dewitt High School where she was employed from 1965 – 1978. After retiring from J-D, Connie worked for Carrier Corporation for several years. Connie loved many things in life, especially her family, friends, and her faith. She enjoyed skiing, tennis, dancing, traveling, and could always be found reading a book by one of her favorite authors.
In addition to her spouse, she is survived by three children: John Conger of Fayetteville, NY; Cathleen (Robert) McColgin of Skaneateles and Little Falls, NY; Colleen Conger of La Jolla, CA; three grandchildren (Colleen McColgin, Matthew and Benjamin Conger); five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis (George) Hyrcza of Springfield, VA and Eileen (Raymond) Cariseo of Jamesville, NY; two sister-in-laws, Donna Walto of Syracuse, NY and Joann Wojcik of Sarasota, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Services: 10 am Friday March 4, at St. Patrick and St. Brigid Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Livestream will begin at 10 am on facebook.com/TINDALLFH Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours will be 5 to 7 pm Thursday March 3, at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St., Syracuse.
