Obituary of Richard Thomas Sauve
Richard Thomas Sauve, “Rich”, “Richie”, and beloved Dad and Pops, 59, of Solvay passed away on January 17, 2022 at home. Rich was born in Syracuse and was proud to be kanien'keháka, Mohawk, Snipe Clan. He graduated from Fowler High School. Rich worked at Concepts in Wood for 39 years, where he was well-regarded and built lifelong friendships. He was a talented woodworker, and especially loved to make gifts for family.
Rich excelled at sports and played softball, and basketball in the St Lucy’s gym, with his brothers and friends for many years. He liked to fish with his daughter Valerie, enjoyed planting a garden despite and maybe partially for the deer who would mow down his plants, and above all else he loved being with his family, for adventures near and far; for cookouts, beach days, game nights, and just being together.
He was predeceased by his parents, Louise Francis Sauve and Robert Sauve, his brother Kevin (Bobbie) and sister Cheri, brother-in-law Gary, and nephew Keith.
He leaves behind a large and loving family: Robin Sauve, to whom he was married for nearly 40 years, daughter, Christina and son-in-law Chris; son, Ryan and daughter-in-law, Kelly; daughter, Valerie and grandchildren; Leah, Jordan, Lucy, and Orin; brothers, Joe (Lauren), Jay (Stacey), Ronald (Donna), and Cliff (Tina); sisters, Linda, Robin, Laurie (Gary), and Michelle (Brian) and sister-in-law, Diane; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends that he considered family.
Calling hours will be 5-7 pm Friday January 28, at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St., Syracuse. A memorial service will follow at 7 pm. Masks are required.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels ECHO (echomealsonwheelswest.com) where Rich volunteered. He truly loved to be of service to others and to brighten someone’s day with an easy smile, a silly joke, or friendly conversation.
Love you Pops.
