Dear Margaret, Mary Helen, Kathleen, Betsy, and Jim,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your wonderful father, Walter. He was a dear friend of SU Athletics, and I looked forward to his Monday morning phone call during football season so we could "rehash" the game we played the previous Saturday. What a wonderful man. I will miss our conversations very much this fall but will have the wonderful memory of his incredible personality.
I know how badly he missed your mother, Helen, and now we can smile with them on their reunion. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
Sincerely,
Mary Kelly

Peggy and Gary are good friends of ours whom we've known for many years. On occasion we've met Walter Barrett in their home. He is a man people willnot forget easily. He was a commanding figure that got your attention. He was always interesting to talk to.You could tell he was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-granchildren. Walter was a rreligious man and family was very important to him. He had a zest for life and we're sure he will be sorely missed.

Walt was like a second father to me during my late high school and early college days in Syracuse during the 1960's. I visited him subsequent to learning belatedly of the death of his beloved wife, Helen, who was like a second mother to me also. I look back in loving memory of those happy days in Fairmount and the wonderful family called the Barretts. I will never forget him or the family members. God bless Walter and Helen Barrett and family. Warmest regards,
Gary DeYulia
