I remember the first time I met Shirley, she was about to write a ticket for my car, actually an undercover city police car, and I ran out from where I was and asked for a break; she smiled and moved on. Throughout her many years with the Syracuse Police Department, it was obvious the city of Syracuse was lucky to have Shirley working for them. She was a dedicated and devoted employee: always smiling and always a kind word. If we could of cloned her, we would have gotten more work done. After she retired, I would run into her at Wegmans and we would chat. She will be missed. Steve Thompson Retired Police Officer

Very sorry to see Shirley passed away. She was a long time customer of our store and was always so kind and friendly. We appreciated her patronage. She was a very nice lady and I’m sure she will be missed. Pat & Mike Park Meat & Grocery

My sympathies on the passing of Shirley. She was a family friend in our neighborhood and watched us grow up. She had a sweet smile and a fun laugh. Her spirit will be missed. Rest in peace Shirley.

I worked with Shirley at the Syracuse police dept. we shared many good moments. I remember her telling me, if there’s bubbles in the puddles we go inside. No tickets in the rain. Rest In Peace. Susan Wight-Modie
