Obituary of Scott M. Becksted

Scott M. Becksted, 64, of Syracuse passed away peacefully Wednesday with his wife and daughter at his side. Born in Oswego, he was a graduate of Nottingham High School and SUNY Empire State College. After working over 30 years he retired as Chief of Police at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Scott loved spending time with his family and his dog Riley. He was an avid reader and loved expanding his collection and sharing his passion with others. Scott was a sports fan who loved watching football and college basketball. He was predeceased by his sister, Edith Fallo and step father, Sam Coniglio. Survivors: his wife of 42 years, Terrie (Bero), daughter, Lauren; mother, Jean (Gray) Coniglio; sister, Paulette Yungwirth; brother, David Whiteside; and extended family and friends. Services: 11 am Tuesday, January 28, at Tindall Funeral Home followed by burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 pm Monday, January 27, at the funeral home, 1921 W Genesee St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to SPCA CNY, 5878 E Molloy Rd, Syracuse, NY 13211.
