Concetta "Connie" (Mellace) Nigro, 95, of Syracuse passed away at home December 30, 2019. She was born on August 3, 1924 to the late Anthony and Frances Mellace. She graduated from North High School and then worked at Easy Washer. Connie was married to Frank Nigro for 59 years until his death in 2007. She was a longtime communicant of St. Brigid's Church and volunteered at the food pantry. Connie enjoyed Syracuse Football and was a great cook and baker. Her cookies, homemade cannoli's and pasta were the best. But she was most famous for her "meatball cookies". Connie's last sweet baked was cream puffs on Christmas. Connie is survived by her daughter, Jeanette (Marc) Malfitano and son, Frank (Patricia Gaudio) Nigro Jr. Her sisters, Gilda Danial of Syracuse and Gloria Mellace of Boca Raton, FL. Many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Connie always had a positive attitude. We have been blessed to have her as long as we did and our forever grateful for the impact she had on us. Services: 11 am Tuesday, January 7, at St. Charles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. A Calling Hour will be 10 to 11 am Tuesday at St. Charles Church prior to the Mass.
