The video really tells a great story of your wonderful parents. I have so many memories of being that neighborhood friends of your whole gang. I remember watching your Dad come home from work and sitting at your kitchen table, covered in the dust of his job. Always a smile for “Charlie” and a question or two on how I was doing. I remember when Dennis moved on to West Genesee and him sitting in the stands watching two best friends going head to head on a different court than that one across from 213 Kimberly where I spent most of my childhood. I was lucky to be allowed to spend my grammer school mornings in your living room, watching cartoons with my pal and heading down “the path” to school. I got to pal around with Dennis, play board games against Kevin (the funniest Ruane), knew Danny always had my back, and recording Peggy in a tape recorder for a class project from HFS when she was in diapers. I was lucky to be called “Chow-Down” by Jimmy, be coached by Dick and Tom, and see my brothers and sisters become amazing friends with Kathy, Gerald and Kevin. I learned the sports legacy of your family first hand, looking at trophy after trophy over and over again, praying I could “be that good” someday. I was invited to “The Polish Home” for Kathy and Fred’s wedding, wondering why a Ruane wedding was being celebrated in the heart of the Polish. I remember when Sean cooked his back with the car battery and how good your Mom handled it. (Sean gets second funniest Ruane).
I always have told my own children “It doesn’t cost anything to be nice”, and your parents were the living legacy for that statement. The last of the Fairmount settlers as gone and will be missed dearly.
Thank you all for everything you’ve done for me personally. I love you all very much.

To all the Ruanes
Very sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. I saw Mr. Ruane at Wegmans not to long ago and we had a real nice visit. Sorry I can’t make the services but I’ll catch your Mom and Dad at St. Marys as they are directly across from my parents.

To Mike, Jim, Tom, Dick, Gerald and the entire Ruane family my deepest condolences for your loss. I remember your mom & dad vividly from my youth in Fairmount. He and my mom were the same age, and passed the same month after long and dedicated lives to their faith and their families.
On my mom's mass card, at her request, is this old Irish blessing; befitting of your dad as well:
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the warm sun shine warm upon your face and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
Peace be with you all...
