Obituary of Rita F. Kisil
Rita Frances (McCartin) Kisil, 91, of Westvale, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by family and staff at Francis House on July 21, 2019. Born in Syracuse, she worked for the telephone company and years later became a nurse working at both Crouse-Irving and Hutchings. She was involved in many organizations such as a Chaplain for the the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, past president of Syracuse Right to Left, Catholic Women’s Club of Syracuse, NY State Nurse’s for Life, Rosary Adoration, Girl Scout Leader, Friends for Life, Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Altar and Rosary Society, Eucharistic Minister and parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo for over 67 years.
Rita is predeceased by her parents Bernard and Mary Frances (Murphy) McCartin, husband of 60 years, William Robert Sr. (Bill), and her daughter Rita Gail (Kisil) O’Loughlin, her sisters, Mary Catherine Miller and Sister Margaret Ann McCartin C.S.J., brothers, John B. (Infant), Bernard, and James A. McCartin.
Rita is survived by her sister Elizabeth (Betty) McCartin Parker, Her Children, Mary Coleen McCarthy (Daniel), Karen Elizabeth Slifka (David), Therese Lee Kisil, Bernadette Palermo (Michael), William Robert Jr. (Andrea), Elizabeth Wojtkowiak (Daniel), Lydia Lamont (Tom), Sarah Hickey, Nancy Kilcoyne (Rick); son in law, Gabriel O’Loughlin; Grandchildren, Robert and Michael Driggs, Katherine Zolnik, Kevin and Patrick McCarthy, Brian and Colin Slifka, Katherine Leonard, Brianna, Alexandria, Gabrielle, and Galen O’Loughlin, Matthew and Mark Kisil, Andrew and Philip Palermo, William and Zachary Kisil, Caitlin Hassett and Andrew Seymour, Mary Frances Wojtkowiak, Thomas Lamont, Anne Marie and Mark Atkins, Susan Boyle and James Hickey; Great grandchildren Ayden, Kyleigh, Jordan, Michael Driggs, Baby McCarthy, Kaylee and Lincoln Leonard, Harper and baby boy Slifka, Carson and Alexander Lamont. She also had many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services: 10 am Thursday at St. Charles Church, 501 S. Orchard Rd., Syracuse, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery DeWitt.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7pm Wednesday at St Charles Church, 501 S. Orchard Rd., Syracuse.
