We were so sorry to hear of Betty's passing. Mom (Harriett)and I spent the evening of Judy's call remembering Betty with fond stories of a time when she and mom were young girls. Betty holds a special place in Mom's heart and will be greatly missed. Please know that our prayers are with you all in this difficult time. Thank you so much for sharing the wonderful tribute video and memories of Betty's 90th birthday. I so enjoyed seeing Maude, Judy, Patty, and Bill. In 1974, I was a 22 year old first year Home Ec teacher at Hazard St. Middle School when I first met Betty. Betty was always so kind and was a great mentor. Her gentle way and lovely spirit was uplifting and helped me face my new position with confidence. I am sorry for your loss.

I took over for Betty at SHS. The name Home Economics changed to Family and Consumer Science. I was there until I recently retired in 2010. She was instrumental in my getting her job. I am forever thankful to her. She was a lovely lady.

She was one of the finest people I've ever known. She and my Aunt Helen were best friends as kids and when Helen died, Betty was my first call. Later on, she said she would stand in for Helen, be my Aunt Betty. From then on, the best thing I had to look forward to when visiting back home were my visits with Aunt Betty. I want to extend my deepest sympathies to her children and grandchildren and the extended family who love her so. How lucky you all are to have had her in your lives. She is the best.
