Obituary of Margaret McCauley
Margaret Palermo McCauley, formerly of Westvale, passed away on October 15th after a long illness. Margaret was born on February 4, 1923, to Angelo and Julia Palermo in Syracuse, NY. She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1984.
Margaret was one of ten children, and the oldest daughter following three brothers. She worked at Pass and Seymour and Allied Chemical where she was an administrative assistant. After retiring, she worked in the rectory of St. Charles Church, where she was loved by everyone.
Margaret was a person who enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved to travel to Florida with her late husband, as well as trips to Europe with her sisters and friends. Margaret’s home was the center of family gatherings. Holiday celebrations were legendary at her house. She was happiest with her family and friends by her side.
Margaret will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews. She was the matriarch of the family and her death leaves a great void.
In addition to her husband, Margaret was predeceased by her parents; brothers Harry, Albert, and Alfred Palermo; sisters, Fanny Fidura, Frances Libertone, and Virginia Rao; and nephews John, David, and Roger Palermo.
Survivors: her brother, Arthur Palermo; sisters, Rose Warzecha and Sr. Helen Palermo CSJ; and sister in law, Pat McCauley Berard.
Services: 10am Friday at St. Charles Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. A calling hour will be 9 to 10 am prior to the service at the church.
