Ethel, Dee-Dee, Jim and Lynn;
Ray will always have a special place in my heart. He was like a grandfather to Neil. I remember when Ethel and Ray came to visit after we moved to Virginia, and took us out to dinner at Nick's seafood (sorry to say they are no longer in business). Ray didn't even blink when Neil ordered one of the most expensive things on the menu (lobster, maybe)? He was a great role model of a Christian husband and father. May you be comforted in the promise of the resurrection. DeColores Ray! Enjoy the beautiful colors in heaven!

Ethel, Jim, Lynn & Diane,
I am deeply saddened to learn of a truly good and fine man’s passing. I spent many a day at the Axelson household growing up in Eastwood in the ‘60s. Jim was my best friend and I got to know the Axelson’s personally. Ray was a man I always admired. I loved his stories and wry sense of humor. He took the time to do things with Jim and often included Jimmy’s friends. I will always remember Ray and Ethel as decent human beings, caring and loving people, and great parents. Jim, Lynn and Diane, you should be proud and honored to have a father like Raymond J. Axelson, Jr. RIP, Mr. Axelson.

We will miss this wonderful man - until we meet again. Our families were very close during our time in Syracuse, where we first met at Calvary church on James St. Many happy times included camping trips, until we moved to Milwaukee, WI.;even then we continued to try to get together during our visits to Syracuse [over 50+ years].
Ray was such an excellent best friend, positive, strong and faithful through any difficulties. He and I (Tom) shared a tremendous interest in photography, but Ray went on to much greater heights - including aerial photography.
Our wish for Ethel. Jim, Lynne, Diane and all their families is to receive our Lord's blessed comfort as you mourn his passing from this life to his next.
With love,
The Bray families

Ray and Ethel have been my dear friends for so many years at St. Mark The Evangelist. He was probably one of the happiest people I've ever known ("Hey Ray, how are you feeling?" "Wonderful!!! Couldn't be better!!!") Also, I found that he really loves dessert...especially cookies! I will truly miss him and our rides to and from church, or doctors appointments, or wherever it was that they wanted to go. It'll be Ethel Mae and me 'holding the fort' in the third row now! XXXOOO
