Obituary of Emily Katherine Koon

Emily Koon, 81, of Lakeland, formerly of Marcellus, passed away peacefully Tuesday at home surrounded by family. Born in Syracuse she was a graduate of Central High School. Emily or "Grandma Em" as she was known, worked many years for ACME Markets. She was the recipient of several awards for her culinary and quilting accomplishments at the NYS Fair. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. Koon.

Survivors: children, Chris (Dave) Fidura, Robert Koon Jr., Marie Latocha; grandchildren, Aaron (Holly) Herringshaw, Alyssa (Andy) Kelsey, Robert Koon III, Brian (Shannon) Koon, Chris (Amber) Koon, Brett Koon, Stephanie Patrick; great grandchildren, Madeleine, Emma, Anna, Rorie, Alora, Ava, Alaina, Avery, Nick, Jake, Lexi, Payton, and Blake; brother, Danny (Kathy) Hecimovic; niece, Ana Friesen; several cousins. The family wishes to thank Hospice of CNY and especially Betty and Tina for their care and compassion.

Services: Private burial in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
