Obituary of Marie T. McGrath

Marie T. McGrath May 8, 2012 Marie Teresa McGrath, 100, a lifetime resident of Syracuse, passed away peacefully Tuesday May 8, 2012 at Loretto. Marie was predeceased by her husband Francis James McGrath in 1996 and her granddaughter Suzanne Lisa McGrath in 1980. An entrepreneur for much of her life, Marie was involved in a grocery store, a bakery, a pizza shop, several income properties, and provided bookkeeping services for several businesses. One of her favorite stories to tell was about how she drove a milk truck prior to having her license and she had to do the whole route forward because she didn't know how to get the truck in reverse. Marie was gifted with a green thumb and her gardens were always appreciated by the neighborhood, especially her rose bushes. Marie very much enjoyed her later days at Park Terrace at Radisson. Marie's family would like to thank her friends and the staff at Park Terrace at Radisson for filling Marie's last years with love, friendship and compassion. Marie's family would also like to thank Loretto for their care during Marie's final weeks. She is survived by her son Francis McGrath of Syracuse, granddaughters Jennifer (Todd) Donovan of Marietta, Allison (Dennis Luber) McGrath of Laurel, MD, and great grandchildren Bailey, Connor and Riley Donovan of Marietta. Services will be held at St. Ann's Church 4471 Onondaga Boulevard Syracuse, NY at 11 a.m. Monday May 14, 2012 followed by a graveside service at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus, NY. There will be no calling hours. In memory of her love for happy meals donations may be sent in lieu of flowers to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central New York 1027 East Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY.
