Back in high school, everyone knew everyone. Michael then wasn't someone I knew well, but in reconnecting with him a bit thanks to Facebook over the past few months, it became clear to me that not knowing him better was clearly my loss. My thoughts go out to all who love him. May your memories help you through your sorrow.

I met Michael 8 years ago at a very difficult time in my life. I can never explain how much Michael helped me to change my life. We became the best of friends, actually he was more like a brother to me. We had our disagreements over the years but the love and respect we had for each other overcame anything. I was blessed to spend several days with Michael and other friends in Miami just days before his death. He was the happiest I'd seen him in a long time. I am still in shock and sometimes I can't even mention his name without crying but I know he would want us all to laugh instead of cry. He always made me laugh !! My heart will mend but I will never forget my wonderful friend. See you on the other side Mike !!

I have known Michael for 20 years or so, but more closely the last ten. We were not friends that were in contact everyday yet his presence brought light and his absence made things "not quite right".....things are going to be "not quite right". Michael remained a friend when others walked away.

I had just reconnected with Michael recently on FB, after moving out here to CA about a year and a half ago. Knowing Michael about 20 years, its a bit like losing extended family. I always enjoyed his easy smile and sense of humor. Here's to you, Michael!

Michael, you will be so missed by so many. I remember years ago when you and Chris came out to our campsite to play spades. So much fun! I remember your struggles through the years and I remember your triumphs. You are truly a gentle soul...

May he make his face to shine down upon you and grant you peace."
My thoughts and prayers are with you Michael and with his family. God bless.

My thoughts and prayers are with Michael and his family. I've known Michael for about 7yrs during some of the best and worst times of my life and he could always put a smile on my face. I feel so fortunate to have spent time with Michael recently and will never forget how every time we got together we turned into little kids with all of our laughing and giggling. He will truly be missed and may he always rest in peace.

I grew up with Mike in Syracuse. Although he was a couple years older, we both attended Onondaga Central High School. We used to sit together on the school bus.
One of my favorite memories of Mike was when he would do the silliest things just to get me to laugh, and that wasn't too hard. I loved his sense of humor.
Mike, thanks for the memories. You will be missed by all of us. Love you very much. Rest in Peace.

To Mike's family and his partner Richard...words cannot express to you all right now how deeply saddened I am to know that Mike is no longer with us. But after growing up with Mike, and seeing how life has played out for alot of us- You all were very lucky to have spent the most time of such a short life with such an awesome individual. Just look at what people have written about him: "he" made "them" laugh,"he" helped "them" during hard times in their life. What a great tribute to such a young man in such a short time,he touched so many people-more than I think he even knew. I am honored to have known him, and I can't wait to see what he has in store for us in the afterlife.Keep the angels laughing Mike-until we all get there...

Michael, I haven't seen you since I was a little girl but I was just thinking about how you used to take me to the library when your mom was babysitting me. You'd check out fairy tale books, like Brother's Grimm, and sit and read them to me all afternoon. I still have my Mikey Bear stuffed animal that was named after you. I just had a little girl of my own and will think of you often when I read to her.

I was so very sorry to hear of Mike's passing...I had reconnected with a high school friend and she just let me know. My fondest memories of Mike were primarily in Highschool but many years after he moved to Florida. I went to visit Mike in Florida and he was so very happy. He loved his family dearly and there was never a dull moment with having a friendship with him. If you knew Mike you knew that he struggled as we all do from time to time. I am glad to have known him and in his profession he certainly gave back to many of his patients. I will never forget a surprise visit from Mike on time around Christmas. He came to my apartment and we sat up until the early part of the morning singing Christmas carols; Mike of course at the top of his lungs and I am sure no one minded in the apartments next door. To the Johnson family and Mike's partner in life.we are with you in much grief and reflect on the goodness that Mike represented and gave back to others. Much Love & God Bless.
