Obituary of Gerald R. Friedli

Gerald R. Friedli, 90, of Solvay passed away Saturday. Born in Syracuse he was a graduate of Solvay High School and US Army Veteran of WWII. He retired from Allied Chemical after over 40 years. He was member of Solvay United Methodist Church, Geddes Vets, the 40 Year Club at Allied Chemical, Solvay Tigers, and he refereed high school basketball. For many years he was secretary of the Tuesday Night Bowling League at Solvay Recreation Center and was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time in the Adirondacks with his family. He served 45 years with the Solvay Fire Department. He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. Survivors: his wife of 63 years; Doris J. (Johnston) Friedli; daughters, Jeanine (William) Haines of Fairmount, Beth (John) Akkoul of Solvay; grandchildren, Joshua and Chelsea; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of 6 North at Crouse Hospital for their excellent care. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Tindall Funeral Home. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home 1921 W. Genesee St., Syracuse.
