When a loved one passes away, one of the first things that family members decide is to conduct a funeral service. However, very few people stop to think what the point of a funeral really is. Let’s take a look at whether this is just something we do as a matter of tradition, or if it has a specific purpose.

Funeral services are something that have been held as part of our culture and many others, for centuries. It is a way for family members to acknowledge that someone they have loved, has passed on. Let’s look at what the point of a funeral is:

  • This is the time when you pay tribute to the person who has passed away. It is the time for you to acknowledge as well as remember and celebrate the life of the deceased person.
  • Family members and close friends can find support in each other’s company. They can share their memories about the loved one which can give them a certain amount of solace.
  • A funeral service also becomes the time when the family can start grieving and express their sorrow through mourning.
  • Going through the modalities of a funeral service helps the family adjust to their loss, which can also be very sudden in some cases.
  • Many people find it difficult to express their sadness and the hollow feeling that they have within them when a family member passes away. But the presence of loved ones around during the funeral, give people the chance to come to terms with their loss.
  • Conducting the funeral service as per your family traditions or in line with the decedent wishes is the best way to say your final goodbyes.

At Tindall Funeral Home, we provide comprehensive funeral services. Feel free to contact us for any more information.
